How to use Jibble for attendance: the short answer
To use Jibble for attendance, the owner or an admin adds team members from the People page, adds work sites on the Locations page, and chooses the clock-in checks (face, selfie, GPS, geofence) under Time Tracking Settings. Employees then open the Jibble app, go to the Time Clock screen and tap Clock In. If staff share one device, an admin can turn a tablet into a kiosk from the app's Menu page.
Attend Mitra isn't affiliated with Jibble; we make a competing attendance app, and the steps below come from Jibble's own help centre as it read on 22 October 2026. Button names can change between app versions, and your admin decides which checks are switched on.
The guide follows the order a new company usually sets things up: people, places, rules, then the daily clock-in and the fixes for when it fails.
Step 1: Add members in Jibble
Jibble gives you two ways to add someone. You can invite them so they get their own login, or you can create a profile without an invite for people who will only clock in on a shared kiosk, such as housekeeping or loading staff who don't carry smartphones. Before sending any invite, verify your own email address; Jibble's help centre says invitations won't go out until you do.
- Open People in the Jibble web app and click Add Members.
- Pick Invite by link to copy a joining link you can share on WhatsApp or email, or stay on the Add Member tab to add people one by one.
- To invite by email or phone, keep the Invite member toggle on, enter the full name and the email address or mobile number, and click Save.
- For kiosk-only staff, turn the Invite member toggle off, enter just the full name and click Save. You can invite them later from their profile.
- Check the pending invitations box on the People page to resend or revoke invites that haven't been accepted.
Step 2: Add locations and set a geofence in Jibble
Locations tell Jibble where your office, shop, plant or client site is. Each location has a radius, which becomes the geofence. Jibble recommends a 300-metre radius if you want automatic clock in and out when people enter or leave a site; for a tight office boundary you'd normally keep it smaller, bearing in mind that phone GPS drifts by several metres.
- Go to Locations and search for the address on the map.
- Select the full address from the results and click Add new location.
- Review the details, set the radius and click Save.
- If the address isn't listed, choose Add missing location, drag the pin to the right spot, click Done, set the radius and save.
- To change several radii at once, switch to List view, tick the locations, click Edit Radius and save.
Step 3: Turn on face recognition, selfies and GPS for Jibble attendance
Clock-in rules live under Time Tracking Settings, then Policies. Only owners and admins can change them. Click the pencil icon on Time Tracking Rules and choose what each clock-in must include. Face recognition, selfies and location tracking work only in Jibble's mobile app, not on the web clock.
- Under Verification, enable Require verification by Face Recognition and decide what happens when face recognition fails: Allowed, Flagged or Blocked.
- Enable Require selfies when clocking in and out if you want a photo on every entry instead of, or as well as, face matching.
- Under Location, enable Require location with time entries to record GPS at clock in and out.
- Enable geofencing in the same section once your locations exist, so staff can only clock in inside a permitted area.
- Click Save, then ask the team to close and reopen the app so the new rules load.
How employees clock in on the Jibble app
On a phone, staff log in to the Jibble app on Android or iOS, open the Time Clock screen and tap the green Clock In button. Depending on your settings, the app may ask for a face scan or location, and may ask them to pick an activity or project. While clocked in they'll see Switch Activity, Start break and Clock out buttons.
On a laptop, the timer sits at the top of the web app: the green play button clocks in, the yellow button starts or ends a break, and the red button clocks out. Employees can check their hours under Timesheets, by day, week or month, and open a day to see each clock-in, break and clock-out.
Jibble's mobile app also has an offline mode, on by default, which lets staff clock in and out without internet and syncs later. While offline they can't choose activities or take breaks, and GPS depends on the phone picking up a satellite signal on its own.
How to set up a Jibble kiosk on a tablet
A kiosk turns one shared Android tablet or iPad into a time clock at the gate or reception, which suits factories, warehouses and retail stores where not everyone has a work phone.
- Install Jibble on the tablet from Google Play or the App Store and log in as an owner, admin or manager.
- Open the Menu page, find the Kiosk section at the top and tap Set up Kiosk Mode (it reads Switch to Kiosk if one already exists).
- Select the people or groups who will use this kiosk and give it a name, such as Gate 1 or Pune Warehouse.
- Create your own PIN, which you'll use to open kiosk settings or clock someone in or out, then tap Let's go.
- Choose a kiosk mode from the gear icon: Facial Recognition, Speed Face Recognition, NFC, Basic (pick your name from a list) or QR Scanner.
- On an iPad, switch on Guided Access in the iPad's accessibility settings so staff can't leave the Jibble app.
Jibble attendance app not working? Common fixes
Most failed clock-ins come down to phone permissions or the rules your admin set. Work through these before raising a ticket:
- Location blocked: allow location for the Jibble app in the phone's settings. For automatic geofence clock-in, Jibble says location must be set to Always allowed, and Android battery saving should be turned off for the app.
- Outside the geofence: move closer to the site or ask your admin to check the location pin and radius.
- Face not recognised: face in good light, whole face in frame, no cap. If it keeps failing, redo your face data from your account settings, or ask a manager to do it from your profile.
- Blocked after several face failures: wait a minute, or ask your manager or admin to clock you in with their PIN.
- New rules not applying: close and reopen the app, and update it from the Play Store or App Store.
- Can't log in: check you're using the email or mobile number your admin added, and ask your Jibble owner or admin to resend or regenerate your invite.
- Missing or wrong entry: ask your manager to correct the timesheet, the same idea as an attendance regularisation request.
Doing the same in Attend Mitra
If you're comparing options, here's the equivalent flow in Attend Mitra, our attendance app for Indian teams. Setting up people is covered in adding employees one by one or from Excel, and the daily flow is in how staff clock in on the mobile app.
- Add staff from Employees in the web dashboard, or import an Excel sheet.
- Switch on the checks you need: face verification, a GPS geofence or office Wi-Fi, through the Verified Attendance module.
- Staff slide to clock in on the Android or iOS app, which also works offline and syncs later.
- For a shared device at the gate, use kiosk mode on a tablet or QR code attendance.
Which one fits your team
Jibble suits teams that want free time tracking with face and GPS checks and run payroll elsewhere. Attend Mitra is a paid tool (Attendance plus Verified Attendance is ₹41.40 per employee per month before 18% GST, with a 14-day free trial) and may suit you better if you want attendance to flow into an Indian payroll module that calculates PF, ESI, TDS and PT.
