How to apply leave in HROne from the web or app, request comp off for a worked holiday, find short leave, and track approval, with fixes when a leave type is missing.

Applying leave in HROne by selecting a date and leave type in a new request

How to apply leave in HROne

To apply leave in HROne, go to the Requests section, click New Request, mark the date (or dates) on the calendar, choose the leave type in the panel that opens on the right, add a comment and submit. The request then goes to your reporting manager or HR for approval, as set in your company's workflow.

The same flow is used for comp off; short leave depends on whether your HR team has set it up. Each is explained below.

Attend Mitra isn't affiliated with HROne; we make a competing HR app, and these steps come from HROne's own pages. Leave types, limits and approvers are defined by your HR admin, so names on your screen may differ.

HROne leave application on the web

  • Open your company's HROne portal and sign in.
  • Go to the Requests section and click New Request.
  • Mark the date you want off on the calendar; select more than one date for a longer leave.
  • In the panel that opens on the right, select the type of leave, such as casual, sick or earned leave as your company names them.
  • Add comments if you want, for example who is covering your work.
  • Submit. You can track its status from your requests.

Apply leave in the HROne app

HROne describes its mobile app as a replica of the web version and says employees can raise leave within about 30 seconds, so the steps match the web: open the app, go to requests, start a new request, choose the date and leave type, and submit. Managers approve from the same app, in bulk if they want.

HROne also lets companies take leave requests through its Microsoft Teams bot (it says in three steps), its WhatsApp bot and its AI assistant in chat. Use these only if your HR team has enabled them.

How to apply short leave in HROne

In many Indian companies, short leave means a few hours off, such as leaving two hours early for a bank or hospital visit, capped at one or two a month. HROne says short leave can be pre-defined in the system to keep attendance records clear, which means your HR team sets the rules: how many hours, how many per month and whether it cuts your leave balance.

HROne doesn't publish employee steps for short leave. If your company has set it up, look for it among the options when you raise a new request, alongside leave, on duty and regularisation. If you can't see it, your company hasn't enabled it, and HR can tell you whether to use half-day leave instead. Our guide to leave policies for private companies explains how short leave is usually defined.

How to apply comp off in HROne

If you worked on a weekly off or a holiday, you can claim compensatory off. HROne's own comp off page gives these steps:

  • Go to the Requests section and click New Request.
  • Mark the date on the calendar for which you want to apply comp off.
  • In the panel on the right, choose compensatory off as the leave type.
  • Add comments, for example the date you worked and why, and submit.
  • If the option isn't available on a date, HR may have enabled comp off only for selected days in the policy. Ask HR before working that day.

On duty and work from home are not leave in HROne

Don't use leave for a client visit or a WFH day. HROne treats on duty (OD) as an attendance request (Request > new request > On Duty), and it also supports work-from-home regularisation requests. Using the right request keeps your leave balance intact. The steps are in our HROne attendance guide.

HROne leave balance, approval and encashment

HROne lets HR create multiple leave types and decide who each applies to, and its leave reports show the leave entitled, credited, availed and balance for each type. Where employees see their own balance depends on how your company has set up HROne; if you can't find it, ask HR for your leave report.

Approvals follow your company's workflow, so one request may go to your reporting manager, then HR. Managers get reminders for pending tasks. The app's release notes also mention a leave encashment feature, which matters if your policy pays out unused earned leave.

HROne leave request problems

  • Leave type missing: it isn't applicable to your department, location or grade. HR controls applicability.
  • Request rejected for insufficient balance: check whether HR has credited this month's accrual, or apply for leave without pay if your policy allows it.
  • Comp off greyed out: comp off may only be enabled for certain days.
  • Request still pending near payroll cut-off: remind your approver, because unapproved leave may be treated as LOP when salary is processed.
  • Can't sign in to apply: ask HR to check your HROne login.

Applying leave in Attend Mitra, and when it makes sense

It's a fit if you want leave tied to verified mobile attendance and payroll (PF, ESI, TDS, PT and payslips calculated in the app, filing still with you or your CA) at a published per-employee price, with a 14-day trial. Larger companies wanting HROne's wider HR suite and chat bots may prefer to stay. The leave management system buyer's guide and our leave software overview help you compare.

Attend Mitra's leave module is ₹9 per employee per month before 18% GST, and an employee applies like this:

  • Open Leave in the Attend Mitra employee app and tap Request Leave.
  • Select dates, leave type and reason, then submit.
  • Edit or cancel while it's pending; your manager approves from Leaves / Requests on the web console.
  • The request leave help guide shows the manager side and leave policies.
