Is greytHR free? The short answer
No, greytHR is not free for companies. Its pricing page in October 2026 shows a 7-day free trial and no free plan; after the trial, plans start at ₹2,495 a month for up to 50 employees, before 18% GST. The greytHR employee app is a free download, but it only works if your employer pays for greytHR.
Attend Mitra isn't affiliated with greytHR; we sell a competing attendance app, and the prices below are copied from greytHR's own pricing page, so check it again before you buy.
greytHR plans and prices in October 2026
greytHR uses a flat price that covers the first 50 employees, plus a charge for each extra employee. As listed on its pricing page in October 2026, all before 18% GST:
- Essential: ₹2,495 a month for 50 employees, then ₹45 per extra employee. Includes payroll, leave management, employee self-onboarding and exit, and a helpdesk. It does not include the attendance module.
- Growth: ₹4,495 a month for 50 employees, then ₹85 per extra employee. Adds attendance with shifts, overtime, permissions and geo-fencing, plus a confirmation workflow.
- Premium: custom pricing with all modules included.
- GPS Live Tracking add-on: ₹140 per user per month on Growth and Premium, for field staff.
- Other add-ons: Expense Management and Time Sheets at ₹35 per user per month, Performance Management at ₹35–₹45, and Recruit at ₹2,500 per recruiter per month.
What greytHR would cost a 20-, 50- or 100-person company
Because the first 50 employees are bundled, small teams pay the full base price. Here's the monthly bill on list prices, before GST:
- 20 employees: Essential ₹2,495; Growth ₹4,495.
- 50 employees: Essential ₹2,495; Growth ₹4,495 (₹5,304 with 18% GST).
- 100 employees: Essential ₹4,745 (₹2,495 + 50 × ₹45); Growth ₹8,745 (₹4,495 + 50 × ₹85).
- Add GPS live tracking for 10 field staff on Growth: another ₹1,400 a month.
The greytHR free trial and free demo
The 7-day free trial is listed as no-commitment with no upfront cost, and the pricing page also has a Request a Demo button if you'd rather see it with greytHR's team first. Seven days is short, so plan the trial before you start it:
- Pick one real team and a real week, not a test account with two users.
- Set up the attendance scheme you'd actually use (selfie, geofence or GPS) and have staff sign in from their own phones.
- Apply and approve at least one leave, one comp off grant and one regularization.
- Run a sample payroll and check PF, ESI, PT and TDS against your current numbers.
- Note which features you needed that sit on Growth, Premium or an add-on, and price them for your headcount.
Is greytHR an HRMS, HRIS, ATS or ERP?
greytHR is an HR and payroll suite, which is what most people mean by an HRMS or HRIS: employee records, payroll, leave, attendance (on Growth and above), onboarding, exit and a helpdesk, with an employee self-service portal and app. It isn't an ERP; it doesn't run accounting, inventory or sales. Hiring is a paid add-on called Recruit, so greytHR works as an ATS only if you buy that.
On safety, the sensible step is the usual one for any HR system holding salary and ID data: ask the vendor for its current security certifications, data-storage location and data-processing terms before signing.
greytHR app download: Android, iPhone and PC
The app is called greytHR - the one-stop HR App and is published by Greytip Software. It's free on Google Play (10 lakh+ downloads, last updated 16 September 2026 when we checked) and on the App Store. Employees can sign in, mark attendance, apply leave, view payslips and IT statements and see who's in. The detailed steps are in our guides to greytHR app attendance and to applying leave or comp off in greytHR.
- Android: needs Android 8.0 (Oreo) or later, per the Play Store listing.
- iPhone: needs iOS 16.0 or later, per the App Store listing.
- PC or Windows: greytHR's help pages describe the web ESS portal and the mobile app; we didn't find a separate Windows app, so on a computer use the ESS portal in your browser.
- Your company must already be on greytHR; the app can't be used on its own by an individual or a business that hasn't subscribed.
What is actually free from greytHR
Two things are free. The employee app costs nothing to download, and greytHR Academy offers HR and payroll courses: a greytHR community FAQ says most courses are free with an Academy certificate, while a couple of Udemy courses are paid. Check the Academy page for the current list, as course fees can change. The HR software itself has no free tier. If you're weighing greytHR against other HR apps on day-to-day use rather than price, our step-by-step guides for other HR apps show how attendance works in each.
Free and lower-cost options, and how Attend Mitra compares
If you searched 'is greytHR free' because you need attendance on a tight budget, our list of genuinely free attendance software in India covers tools with free plans, and our side-by-side of 10 attendance tools compares prices and verification methods.
Attend Mitra isn't free either: it has a 14-day free trial and no free-forever plan. It's priced per employee rather than per block of 50, so small teams pay only for their headcount. Attendance plus Verified Attendance (face, GPS and Wi-Fi checks) costs ₹41.40 per employee per month before 18% GST, or ₹2,070 for 50 people. Adding Leave and Payroll brings it to ₹73.10 per employee (₹3,655 for 50) after the 15% bundle discount. Payroll calculates PF, ESI, TDS, PT and payslips, but filing returns such as PF ECR stays with you or your CA. See Attend Mitra's module prices or book a walkthrough.
Honest fit: greytHR makes more sense if payroll and statutory compliance are your main need and you have close to 50 or more employees. An attendance-first app fits better if you mostly need verified mobile attendance, offline punching or kiosk and QR attendance for a smaller or growing team.
