Free Attendance Software in India (2026): What the Free Plans Actually Include

Four HR and attendance tools publish free plans in India, but only two include attendance. What each free plan covers, the limits, and when paying makes sense.

Free attendance software plans compared for small Indian businesses

Which attendance software is free in India?

Four tools used in India publish free plans: Jibble, Kredily, factoHR and Zoho People (checked on 18 October 2026). Only two of them include attendance. Jibble is free for unlimited users, and Kredily's free plan has web clock-in alongside payroll calculations.

factoHR's free plan (up to 20 employees) and Zoho People's free plan (up to 5 users) cover employee records, but not attendance. They are useful for HR basics, not for tracking who came to work.

We make Attend Mitra, which has no free plan. For paid options and prices, see our attendance software comparison.

What each free plan includes

Here is what each vendor's own pricing page lists for its free plan:

  • Jibble: free for unlimited users. Its site lists GPS tracking, geofencing, face verification, a kiosk mode and offline clock-ins, without saying which are limited on the free plan. Timesheets export to Xero, QuickBooks and Deel.
  • Kredily: ₹0 a month for unlimited employees, subject to an active-usage policy. It includes web clock-in, one leave and attendance rule, and PF, ESI, PT and TDS calculations, with 250 MB of storage.
  • factoHR: free for up to 20 employees, covering employee data, letter generation and payslips. No attendance.
  • Zoho People: free for up to 5 users, covering the employee database, leave and documents. No attendance.

The limits that matter

Free plans are fine for an office team that clocks in from a desk. They fall short when staff work at sites, in the field or on shifts.

  • No location or face checks on Kredily's free plan: selfie and GPS attendance start on its Professional plan (₹1,749 a month for 25 employees).
  • No Indian payroll in Jibble: timesheets go to Xero, QuickBooks or Deel, so PF and ESI are calculated elsewhere.
  • No salary payouts, PF and ESI challans, Form 12BB or Form 16 on Kredily's free plan; those start on its Payroll OS plan (₹1,249 a month for 25 employees).
  • Unpublished limits: Jibble doesn't say which features are capped on the free plan, so check before rolling it out to every site.

When a paid plan is worth it

Paying makes sense once proxy attendance or payroll errors cost more than the subscription. That usually happens when staff clock in away from the office, or when overtime and shifts feed salary.

For a 50-person team, the cheapest paid plans with GPS-checked clock-in were Attend Mitra at ₹2,070 a month (face, GPS and office Wi-Fi checks), SalaryBox Starter at ₹2,700 and Kredily Professional at ₹3,499, before GST. Free trials versus free plans

A free trial gives you the paid features for a fixed time; a free plan is permanent but limited. Trials are the better way to test GPS and face checks with real staff before paying.

  • greytHR: 7-day free trial.
  • SalaryBox: 7-day free trial.
  • Attend Mitra: 14-day free trial.
  • Truein: 14-day free trial, no credit card needed.
  • Zoho People: 30-day free trial; afterwards the account moves to the free plan.
